What big tide?

Today was supposed to be the biggest tide for 18 years but I could barely get onto my club's dock today, so barely an average spring tide. Not particularly high pressure today and the onshore NE wind should have raised the water level. Can anyone offer an explanation?

The eclipse was obscured by cloud, reducing its power..

Yes, Saturday had the predicted very high tide but Sunday was supposed to even higher, then it wasn't.

Quite high at MSC on Saturday lunch time. If it had come up another foot then we would have had to close the floodgates. It went out quickly too. I looked an hour and a half after HW and thought someone had pulled thd plug out!
