What BBQ?? and other things.....

What you need its a nice tender and outboard for the kids to explore the wonderful creeks and backwaters....that's what boating on the Thames for a kid is all about.

As it happens I know a man who has both for sale........

Who would that be then?

We have had a couple of kayaks for three years. The kids have been on the Thames and down in Cornwall a few times which they love. Not sure how to store them on the boat though they are sit on top type and rather large.

We would like a tender at some point. Where's it advertised, and what is it? Shopping again sheesh.... :D

'Er, why spend £189 on a TV with no iPod dock, when the cheaper one offers it, and all the benefits?'

Er, perhaps don't own an ipod

Not keep up are you... It's all the gadgets I am trying to get away from, not take them on a boat I bought for an escape and a bit of fun.. :D

Edited this as not sure if it was just a funny comment or a dig.. Bad day at work, just leaving now so a little testy here.... Apologies if I am being sensitive.. Been worse than one of those days......

Seriously dude....

Look at the benefits for an iPod TV in a Boat:

Flatscreen TV takes up no space, and the docked ones have much nicer sounds than a normal TV.

The iPod is capable of storing weeks worth of Music and Video, while taking up the space of a single CD, and despite 40 hour running time, is charged as it plugs into the TV, no no aggro.

Even an iPhone will do this!

Your days piccies can also be viewed on the flatscreen...

Now I appreciate many people don't want to watch TV per se, but most do like at least to be able to.

The whole thing can be fitted in 5 minutes, and doesn't even need an Aerial unless to want to watch live TV.

£129 plus an iPhone or iPod? Gotta be one of the best value things for paeople who stay on their boat for more than one night :D:D:D

I dont think ive ever watched tv on my boat . I watched a dvd on a portable dvd player once when it was raining but other than that there are far more interesting things to do .
BBQ wise , get a cheap one that takes charcoal . Once the food is cooked you can then gather wood and use it for the camp fire , Sitting around the campfire with a few mates drinking beer and playing guitar is much more fun than a gas BBQ and TV .

Yes, you make good and valid points but I am still trying to hark back to our early days on the river when we resorted to the simple pleasures of a camp fire and a few beers ( now without our two boys 'seek' and 'destroy'),

PS. I have only recently bought a smart phone (fantastic) but have drawn the line at wearing Nike trainers!

I know what you mean....but....

I like to be ready for anything, and stopping in various tidal and no tidal places, it's just nice to have all facilities on board!

After a nice expensive evening at St Kats, for example, you can't beat getting away from it all in a nice warm cabin with a little music, or film to watch.

They don't like campfires on the pontoons at St. Kats :D

We spent saturday on the boat and slept overnight. I was working a late shift so had to leave midday, returning at about 10pm.

Inverter on board they had fun watching tv and a movie, they played cards for a while, then tv again. Thats when the battery light started flashing low power and they switched it to shore power. :D

So lesson learnt about how much tv they can watch, except son now says its fine, just run the engines.

I had the best sleep waking without backache for the first time in about two years. (Nurses back :( ) Hubby said I did test how much bed I could get at about 3am... I chose to be on the side you can't fall off... :D

Dogs were fine, no need for a gangway afterall.

Boat food consisted of them having pizza delivered, eating cake and biscuits, then mcdonalds breakfast... Something wrong there methinks.

Perhaps a campfire at bray marina?

Boat full of condensation this am so had to go buy a dehumidifier.

Had a good time, just a shame the license hasn't arrived yet, so couldn't go out.

You need to run the heating, and leave windows/ vents open.

The batteries were knackered before you bought her, don't think it has to be you overusing them, unless you bought a new set. Every time we went on board, they were flat.....

Oh, and if you have shore power, plug in and use it every time! :D

Heating wasn't on... Just the breath of six people and three dogs all night. :D

We had the batteries fully tested and replaced one that needed to be replaced.

Shore power definately. one son was on his laptop most of the day.

It was a good test to let the kids realise the limitations.:D

The heating with ventilation will cut down on the condensation ;)
