Ramsholt is another place where you still feel like you're welcome.... And the 'harbour master' knows where to put you... And if you're polite and considerate, you'll probably not even be charged!

Any other harbour masters stand out on the East Coast? Let's give them some recognition.
Dont want much thenI like Brightlingsea as it is.
I don't like or want to stay in a marina but they can be convienient. I want;
1 shelter,
2 quiet,
3 not to far to row ashore,
4 mud free secure place for dinghy at all states of tide,
5 provisions shop
6 decent pub
7 interesting things ashore for a day out
8 chandlery
9 fuel and water available
Maybe all in that order. All in reasonable walking distance.
10 above all; CHEAP! (up to £10 depending on facilities as above)
That was my plan.... only now i've got the small rib, I somehow still seem to end up on the pontoons! Then the price would go up to pay for it all with little profit and I'll go over to Pyfleet, spend the money saved on a small rib and buzz across from there.
Many thanks for this.
I will explain why I asked if you are interested in about a month!![]()

Thanks to all who replied.
For those who hadn't guessed the reason I asked the question was because I was interviewed for the Brightlingsea Harbour Master job and had to give a short presentation as well.
Found out today I wasn't succesfulwhich is a shame, think it would have been a nice role. Haven't heard who got the job though.

Broad reaching from Antigua to Domenica last month [down the west coast not the East Coast unfortunately] at night our rudder became all but unusable* so we anchored off a places called Deshaies on Guadaloupe about 0100 hours local, to wait for morning and try and identify the problem. Naturally the three of us on board decided to sleep until morning. About 0800 we were awakened by a cheery French voice offering us croissants and a baguette. He apologised for the fact that he had not been able to take an order the previous evening as we had not been there when he was taking orders, but threw in a few extra croissants and a baguette in case we needed it having identified there was an extra boat in the anchorage from his shop ashore. 4 Euros we thought was a good deal for that sort of service. We didn't particularly want a newspaper but fresh coffee would have been nice.I'm sure Brightlingsea could be improved. My proposals would be:
Newspapers and rolls delivered to the pontoons at breakfast (weekends only outside the season)
