Ok, not me being a total prat, by the sounds of it. I'll go practice on a rainy day when there's less people about, and try the suggestions above.

Now.... where the hell do you store 8nfoot long rods in a boat this small? I wondered about getting a small roof box like on a car, and snapping in the foam retainers I've seen. But I want a 1 foot x 6 inch x 8 foot box, that's not ugly.... is there a market for this, cos it doesn't exist.

I have recently changed from an outboard boat to a Beneteau Antares 620 diesel inboard on a shaft. I have also had difficulty in the marina manouvering. I found this very helpful:

What did it cost?

In hospital so can't look up, give Osmotech a ring & ask, wasn't too much & you don't have to have full package as we did, say just the remote for example, which is the main bit.

May be a day of pontoon bashing with an instructor who knows this boat well?

I would guess that there's some odd knack which you will work out yourself in time. But something that can maybe be short-circuited with a bit of guidance from someone who is both familiar with the type of boat and good at sharing knowledge.
