There is some great boaty drone footage on this forum so I wondered if there would be a demand for a website dedicated to showcasing just drone footage of boats and anchorages, etc shot by forumites or anyone else for that matter.

I would describe myself as a reasonable amateur at website design and I know my way around PrestaShop, software for setting up an ecommerce website. It has built in features for search and categories so each video would be a "product" and the "categories" could be location and / or boat type. So under the Mallorca category you would see thumbnails of various locations in Mallorca click on the thumbnail to open a page that contains a video of Santa Ponsa, for example.

I have a server to host it the only thing I am not sure about is how to offer an upload feature for videos or would you just have a page with a YouTube link embedded for each video?

I'd vote for YouTube. It's available everywhere and commendably cheap :)

How about having a category especially for drone footage of anchorages, harbour entrances, or other areas where pilotage would be enhanced by the use of a drone video showing safe passage and hazards?

I've also done some web software before.
You may want to consider the liability angle.
Copyright of material uploaded.
A big one would be the audio tracks.
Linking with Youtube might mitigate any liability.

Alternatively, as Michael posted - there is a good service already running.
I've just had a look at the footage posted on Punta Negra in Palma Bay.
Some very good drone photography - I certainly, couldn't compete.
Having said that, that particular footage opened up a whole new aspect on Punta Negra for me.
Spent a few days in that small bay last year and drove past is a couple of times in the RIB last month.
There seems to be more snorkeling/swimming there than I thought.
So, there is mileage in drone footage of this type.

As Hurricane says, Youtube is the answer, it's free & simple and protects against against music copyright....
The Punta Negra drone footage is v good, as you say excellent snorkelling, in fact some of the dive schools use that area
