I am still trying to be positive about Fri evening departure for Oostende, but is any one else going or will I be Billy No Mates?

Guapa is back in Ipswich having tonight due to progress & forecasts.
we will be o/b tomorrow afternoon to "Take a View" but in reality expect to stay local as Mel has to be @ work Tuesday early doors.
this will be our 3rd missed trip to Oostende since 84 & the first due to weather

Does this look like no one is going for the weekend looks moderate for a Friday crossing and run back in lightish winds Sunday, or so wind guru says:rolleyes::D

Petehb,
I am still hanging in there bur from the comfort of my armchair !
Was thinking Fri eve crossing looks do able, it is the return with westerlies that looked more depressing with some pretty punchy F7 gusts.
Have been looking at wind finder and wind guru and they seem to change quite regularly.
Out of interest where will you be crossing from and which day, time?
Ben

So, is anyone actually going on this thing then?? Friday looks good for a daytime crossing.. (Other than the wind being up the chuff..) and Monday looks fine for return... so whats the issue.... (Other than the wind changing every ten seconds...?)

currently planning to go 0730 Friday, return Sunday or Monday -depending on the f/cast- which seems to be moving around.

Ben

I am thinking of going early Friday morning 4.00am ish from Shotley at the moment Sunday return with SW winds looks favourite. BUT will review forcasts tomorrow late afternoon and the conditions Friday.

Hi Ben,
Our plan is to race over.
The race starts on Friday (0730 start).
Current f/cast is up the chuff, so hoping it will be ok - although expect it to be bumpy.
Am hoping that there will be a weather gap sometime sunday or monday to return.
24hrs ago, Sunday was looking ok. Monday is now looking like the best day...
So it seems to be shifting around...
The other posts, from sailors far more experienced than me suggest its worth waiting til the last minute to decide - which is advice we take.
Fyi, Last time we came back from Ostende, Susie was hugging the EPIRB for 12 hours....

Hi Will,
Thanks for this - looks like the better conditions will be found during the day Fri, just trying to work out our landing time Oostende Sat given our Fri eve departure. Could be cutting it close to the F6/7 patch. Monday I agree at mo gives a window home certainly more sth in the wind from Oostende side to begin with.
I can see I will get zero work completed tomorrow/Fri as I shall be watching the screen for the latest!
Ben
