Hurley.JPG

Most busiest day of the year, queue from Hurley lock down to the footbridge dodging the overhanging trees in the lock cut, and half the lock goes empty.

Not that i am complaining you understand, Uncle Tone says i mussnt.

Bloody right aswell ! The slipper should have been allowed to lock alone without all that plastic spoiling the day . Things are getting bad man , real baaad !

Presume a "slipper" is that about as much use as a chocolate teapot confection taking up valuable boat space in the corner of the lock ?

One day....i will see a Slipper launch going along at less than double the speed limit...

Hasnt happened in the last 37 years, but i still have faith.

Some people can load a lock and some can't.

Resident staff are good at it as are some of the summer assistants - so it's not limited to considerable experience.

I always say "a full lock is a happy lock"...

we went away upstream a week last thursday (just as the weather turned good). From leaving the marina on day one, we went through 11 locks going upstream over the next 3 days, and we were the only one's in the lock!

Easy peasy!

You ask Tedders what we squeeze in there!

An 8, or a couple of 4s, maybe a double, a few singles, a rowing Cat and we usually have to let in a Turks boat first!

No problem. Can we do it? Yes we can. ;)

Hey Tedders - now that's really cool!

No J, wouldn't get a streamlined rowing boat in their sights, but something much wider would present itself as a clear target. So, duck!

I note that the much maligned sport of Rowing has produced Team GB's first Gold medal. (Well done ladies!).

And the other shouty, lycra clad sport (Cycling) has produced the second.
Way to go Wiggo...
:D
