It was a late winter but spring sure made up for it. We've been having the most glorious boating weather. Left Conwy on Friday night and transited the Menai to throw the hook out at Aber Menai Point. Had the cove all to ourselves for the evening and were joined in the morning by one other boat.

The following morning my daughter was itching to go to mermaids cove and find mermaids. We had missed the tide but she was having none of it. We will take the tender she pouted. It's 5 miles and we only have the 3 hp engine, I moaned. I'll drive, she said. And so she did. 10 mile round trip, bless

We're off! It's there, on the horizon

No mermaids in Mermaids Cove :(

Plenty Cinnamon Moths, butterflies, jasper, butterflies and cowrie shells to keep one occupied scavenging though

Waking up Sunday morning to this view

And then people started waking up to what they were missing and came down in droves. It got quite festive with the kids taking to the water in sailing dinghies , paddle boards and dinks squealing and shouting with joy. That is such a pleasant sound...from a distance...

Arrived back in Conwy gone 9pm. Only 2 days and 2 nights on the water but it felt like a holiday. Just perfect weather and water.

I wish the Med was as nice:nonchalance: Like you, and everyone else here, I’m addicted to waking up to mirror like seas.
Glad you had a great start to your season

brilliant, 10 miles in a dingy. Your daughter is a star. Lovely pictures, a weekend of memories. Thanks for sharing.

By the way.... have the identical OB, last night I stripped down gear selector as it had seized up. No issue with gearbox or rods etc, literally it was the selector itself within its housing. With the correct tools pushed it out of the body of OB and cleaned and greased refitted and all perfect again. Just in case your selector every starts to do the same!

Of that there was absolutely no intention I assure you, and the chance of seeing them so remote as to be negligible. Nonetheless there were times when in the tender that the thought of what if strayed into mind and rather than a hopeful desire to maybe see them I was, how would you say, a fervent hope I would not.

Great post/report, the Welsh coast is stunning. Keep up with the cruise reports as the season unfolds. :encouragement::cool:

Do any of you guys get down to the west coast?, Freshwater west/east, Manorbier, Tenby, Saundersfoot etc? Sorry for the fred drift.

brilliant Bruce!
very well done!
lovely pics, what camera did you use, or was it a phone camera? Clouds nice and dramatic, vibrant colours, excellent!
looks like it's not blowing 6 and 7s all the time up there then :p

cheers

Never really been much further down South than Aberdovey tbh. Most go West or North.

I just have a Samsung S7 Vas. If you think that haß done well you should see it for real. It really is magic.

As for winds, yes it can blow here but the great thing about Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula, is there is always a sheltered side. You just sometimes have to ride the rough to get to the smooth
