Totally agree with you.

Due to LW, nice and early sneaked under the bridge and out into harbour, plodded down Main Channel and opened up, thought nice day for Swanage. However water was sooooo flat carried on pass Swanage ending up at Lulworth. I was thinking on the way I bet it's going to difficult to get a space when I get there - there was ONE boat at anchor, apart from the residential fishing boats of course. During the day only a few other boats came in but it was such a sun trap.

On the return trip tide just starting to turn but the roughess water was in Poole Harbour and there were 4 other boats waiting at the 17:30 bridge lift. Once again I thought it would have been a long line of boats waiting.

I just hope this is the way the season is going to be.

I saw your post earlier but had to go away and calm down a bit...

I was stuck under the boat Saturday trying to strip Antifoul..

...Yesterday wasn't bad but not out on the boat...

I'm not jealous though...looked terrible. :p:D:D

Cracking weekend - wasn't it just.
We stayed Friday night and departed a little before 1000 Saturday morning. Glorious motoring through Chi harbour, and hardly a soul about...

Arrived Yarmouth at 11:45, and we got the last available walk ashore, on the 'T' between red and yellow  Fab view from the cockpit whilst enjoying a cold one though....

Nearly as beautiful yesteday, though sun was hazy all day which I suspect due to volcanic ash. Whatever, we had a superb run back and the Solent not at all busy. Where is everyone?????

Where was I?
In the garden, darn it. But I am now up to my eyes in brownie points, so back on the water this weekend.

Where was everyone else?
I thought the same the weekend before, which was also beautiful weather.

I bet it isn't one big reason, but a mix of things like:
1) Just enough boats have gone Euro AWOL to leave some gaps in marinas and
2) the price of diesel has crept from hurtful to overtly painful, and folks are doing 30 minute hops between Soton and Cowes, Leamington and Yarmouth, Poole and Studland. They're not out long enough for you to see many of them and
3) the weather the last few years has been poor, so some people turned pessimistic and delayed getting back in the water.

Just a few guesses.

I think a lot of people just haven't got themselves organised for the season yet. Easter was a wash out, so it was easy to just forget sorting the boat out for a bit longer. There were quite a few in our marina busy polishing, fixing etc., and there are still a lot of boats on the hard.

We were out and about in the Solent, Hamble village was mobbed, couldn't get a table anywhere so ended up making sausage sandwiches on the boat. Woke up to lovely still sunny conditions on Sunday, but unfortunately had to head back early when my lad started throwing up, having drunk from a bottle of water that was left half-finished at the end of last season :-( !

Spent Saturday putting the finishing touches to some little projects, including sewing up the ybw flag (should be good for one more year) and re-hoisting it.

To Bembridge on Sunday, after watching the Shanghai GP. Lovely, lovely day. Actually got on a pontoon. Nice walk round the harbour. Cup of tea at anchor off East Head. Back with an hour to spare before low water. No queue at Chi Marina. Washed the salt off and left for home at 8. No queue on the M3, so all very civilised.

Ive not done Benbridge, whats it like was thinking about doing it Friday, is there anywhere to eat and drink local?

Then see if we can do Yarmouth sat 2 new places to me

Some good pictures and I have to agree what a great weekend. The weekend before was finishing all those maintenance jobs and last weekend I was free to just enjoy the boat.

We went to Yarmouth on Saturday and then Sunday went around to Fresh Water bay, I was pretty much the only one there all day - just loved it, took the dinghy to the mouth of the caves in the cliff, it was just so calm. Sunday evening trip back to Southampton was just a great joy on calm seas.

On top of that the boat seems to be doing good mpg.

I wonder if this is what happens when planes are not flying!

We were out Sunday and what a fabulous day it was. Gave the boat a run down to Chapman's Pool, so can't have been far behind Peanuts at Lulworth. We were the only boat there too, for a good part of the day - there was no swell and no wind, so it was idyllic. I did the usual Brit thing, and despite lathering up with factor 50 came back a nice lobster pink.

BTW if that's the Manhattan 50 I think it is, its now berthed two spots away from me at CQ. A very nice boat indeed.

I was in Torquay all weekend soooooo close to the sea but boat 200miles away in Milton Keynes.. was watching #2 son play rugby for the weekend at the south of England tournament.. the club ground is pretty much on the sea front... great tournament but a bit of me wished I was on the boat in the flat calm

Hi Solent Phil think we crossed paths we were in the Doral 250 leaving Cowes as you were coming in, was it you waving back?
