What a beautiful evening

That's perfectly OK. I would agree that in all the Marinas i've been in, the majority of folk have been very friendly.

My balancing point is that at the weekend (usually hot ones like the one just gone), the number of power boats, speed boats and PWC's that just blast around other boats, without any consideration, is surprising.

I have to be honest too, when I did a weeks sailing course on the south coast (between Poole and the Solent), the number of snotty 'holier than thou' boat owners of all types was a bit disappointing. Perhaps that tarnished my opinion a bit.

We might be "missing out" on some of the weekend yobs as we are sea based, i think options for hire boats are limited in the tidal areas. Totally agree that it's disappointing to meet the "holier than thou" boaters :(

In actual fact i was some 300 yds from him as we passed, hence the reason for my comment. I found it somewhat amusing that he appeared unhappy that i was overtaking him, albeit 300 yds away, making no wash.

Hey Paul...calm down!! My original comment was not aimed specifically at you! Just a generic observation about a large number of Mobo's that we come across on and around the Colne and Blackwater...for instance last summer we were sailing up an almost deserted Blackwater and two large 'stinkies' decided that it would be fun to pass either side of us no more than 50 yards away flat out. The resulting confluence of their respective washes made things somewhat 'lively' for a while! Now I know that a***holes like those are fortunately very few and far between but it does tend to tar the majority of responsible Mobo drivers with the same brush!

Fortunately, i've found that in general, the sailboats we meet on our travels adopt a more civil approach to us, even if we are in a nasty mobo :)
Glad to see that you do have a full understanding of the fact that you DO have a nasty mobo! ;)

I tend to take people as i find them, but inspite of your protestations to the contrary, it does appear that you were 'having a pop' IMO!

I see nothing wrong in a boat going past a reasonable distance away on the plane, causing no disturbance.

The original post explains why there were so many seals on Raysand on Sunday. Also explains why there were so many Romford Navy plonkers belting up and down around the entrance of the Roach in their Sunshaggers Fairylines stinkpots on Sunday afternoon. I'm amazed they know what that little metal thing on a chain at the front is for, let alone how to use it. Still, everyone has to be somewhere.

As long as I, like the seals, can be somewhere else. A Superb weekend in West Mercia. And no Romford Navy there.
