Not seen that any for a long time. I remember many years ago on my first Biscay crossing with my father, meeting a "wall" of whales. They were that dense that there appeared no way through. It took a 20 nm detour to get around them. I've never seen so many in one place again. 1977 if my memory is good.

If I remember dates right, it was around this time of year about 10 years ago, we saw a very large pod of whales in the same area. Was travelling north delivering a yacht from the Med to Brest. My oppo was on watch. I went up into the cockpit and said 'look at those whales' which of course immediately went deep. He said ' yeah, whatever' . Just afterwards one stuck it's rather large head out of the water really, really close behind us. My oppo said something like 'aaargh waaahtf.'.
