Whale Supersub Bilge Pump Not Working

Unfortunately due to the excessive rain over the weekend my bilge filled completely and then spilled over into the cabin floor! 2 inches....

After a lot of bailing and mopping up I checked the new Whale Supersub pump fitted a year ago which was working on auto.

When trying it on manual it powers up but water doesn't pump.

I'm wondering if it's the strainer which could need cleaning (the bilge was filthy and diesel had spilled into it months ago during engine work) or whether I have the pump fitted at the correct angle. I noticed the Whale site advises an angle of approx 8 degrees albeit mine is a lot more than this (but as aforementioned it has worked previously).

Any hints on this?

Clean the strainer if you can, if that doesn't work take it out and check it on the bench! What could be simpler?

I've had two of those and found them very unreliable. The Johnson pump I replaced it with has been much better. Also simpler to remove clean and replace.

We fitted one in the USA and it lasted <6 months, I wouldn't have another.
