I installed a flexible tank only to find that the sink pump won't prime (unless you suck hard). I note that you can get service kits for the Mk 3/4 but not the 1 or 2. I have no idea which one I have - is there any identification marks or distinguishing features? Anything that can be done with old pumps (boat is from '80)

Worth ringing or emailing Whale in Bangor, they are one of those companies who claim inordinate pride in their after sales service and advice.

I've had a couple of boats with Whale flipper pumps pulling from flexi tanks (and quite long runs too) and can't remember ever having a problem with the pumps. Maybe 'it is' just your old pump giving trouble. Are there any other outlets/pumps using the same line from the tank. If there is, just maybe you're drawing air from one of them... and if so, a little non-return valve will do the trick.

Mine did same lost suction after whilst not in use, it had been out of use for some time. I took it apart cleaned it I had a couple of similar gaskets I changed back together and all ok...

Hope that helps...
