Whale was probably reviewing the onboard protein value, and decided it wasn't worth it. These Kwis can be a bit tough, y'know !

"Wright said he had been sleeping when he was awoken by a loud noise and rushed up on deck to find himself staring at a whale's head about a foot away."

The boat hit the whale because the crew was asleep and not keeping a lookout. The boat should apologize to the whale.

We keep hearing of whales being hit by round the world yachties.....this whale had obviously had enough and was getting its own back for all his/her mates that have been knobbled with a keel or rudder.

Was the whale showing the correct navigation lights?

Their book Survive the Savage Sea is a great read. After all that he died of cancer years later.

Quite right. It was the boat's fault.

The whale wasn't hanging around to say 'Sorry'. It was trying to exchange insurance details with the skipper. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What was he on? Can you imagine being sunk by a gert big whale that comes around for a second look ( probably on the basis of saying the whale equivalent of what the F was that?) and saying..... "I got good vibes off him man".....
Could only be a Kiwi or Californian...... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
