Hi all been here since monday, back to solent this afternoon.

At the town quay there have never been anymore than 5 to 7 motorcruisers here all week, I can only see inc me 7,inc 2 forum members, me and crazy4557.

Fueled up here too, the diesel man said its been very quiet with pleasure boats, I do wonder if the fuel prices are keeping boats to short passages, as the 4 night is free here if you pay for 3, just over £82.00 for the 4 nights, good value id say.

We wondered that earlier in the year, though as we've been thinking of checking Weymouth out I'm quite pleased to hear we shouldn't have a problem getting a berth. Do you think Weymouth is far enough away from the Solent to have limited the visitors, and maybe Brighton would be the same?

In Lymington YH now, yes id say the distance is enough to shy people away for just a weekend as its £350 round trip in fuel for me, speaking to the HM its been quiet all year so far.

Had an interesting trip back just through the race at StAlbans head the engine note changed and the boat felt really heavy, I did think there was something round the prop so slowed down to idle, then ran each engine in gear to its max rpm, both seemed ok but no vibration, boat would not go on the plane, so lifted engine hatch to find water well up the sides of the engines, slight panic as hose from g box oil cooler to the ex elbow had split completely away dumping all seawater in the boat.

The bilge pump auto switch position had been set to off by our dog jumping around the dash area, now need to wire in a bilge alarm up top!, radioed friend in front but was interupted by good old Solent CG asking if I needed any help.

Just refitted the pipe withe the remaining clips and we were on our way, a good hose down in the bilges and now off for a barbq.

Ahhh the joys of boating.!!

Slight panic? It would have been a Dad's Army moment if I'd been there...

Must have just missed you Paul, we've popped down to Weymouth for the weekend and got here about 1ish. Glad you got back to the Solent safe after your little drama. At least it was flat through St Albans head today.

We were surprised by the lack of mobos here too. Only one mobo at Town Quay this afternoon, a Cranchi 43. But then we went to the marina instead so we're not there either!

Weymouth/Portland

We where in Portland from Wednesday to Yesterday, spent 2 glorious day anchored in Lulworth cove, playing the anchoring game as boats arrived and departed.

Portland Marina was business with Yachts arriving in the evenings and departing in each morning.

There where only us and a MUSE 46 that here visiting Portland all other's where yachts.

The marina guys where busy Friday evening launching all the dry storage boats till about 20.00, probably launch 15 boats

Friday afternoon anchored of Weymouth Beach, very nice apart from the day speed boats kept passing making the boat rock, nearly spilled me iced tea.

Came back to Brighton yesterday with a bit of bay hopping and via St Catherine's point 97m
4.5hrs and moored, very nice run

Paul, got into to Weymouth Late on Thursday and you where dinning, catch you next time.

You were just coming in as I was leaving, I did shout over to you.
