Agree about the restaurant/bar, fantastic atmosphere and loads of live music, loved it - so much so I was thinking of taking the Mrs back down there for an evening out. Portland is the most luxurious and spacious marina we've ever been in, so much room to throw the boat around plus the pontoons are huge and rock solid. It's a first rate place.

Only managed to use the fuel berth once when we arrived at about 18:30 and the man was standing there waiting to refuel a fishing boat (presumably one of his mates) who had called ahead. Otherwise weekend opening times seem to be very limitted. But the delivery service have been happy to come out for 40 or 50 litres - in the summer they normally get to fill up a few more yachts once the skippers see they are there.

There was a notice on the pontoon stating winter hours are 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday but there was no sign of life when I went past.

At the moment she's in the harbour on the North Quay, we'll keep her there for this year before deciding whether the extra expense of the marina is worthwhile.

Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on North Quay...Might look to put a yacht there this year

I've only visited twice since she arrived, but security seems ok, and the locals seem friendly. It's not as sparkly clean as the marine we've come from, but that may be down to seeing lots of boats with their "winter green" coating.

Whats the depth like at North Quay?
