I'm doing a passage plan for a friend who has bought a Merry Fisher 925 from Weymouth. The boat is being taken to Plymouth. I can't find any info about the bridge other than the opening times. When he did the sea trial they drove underneath it. Are there times when motor boats need the bridge opening? I'm also having trouble finding the air clearance needed for this boat.

It’s just about 3m mean.
It opens regularly

The boat will be just shy of 3m air draft, so remember to duck if you go with the bridge down!

Have a good trip :)

Clearance varies with the tides. Suggest you check with the harbour master who should be able to give you exact clearances.
There are boards next to the bridge showing clearance heights.
You will almost certainly need to lower any aerials whatever the clearance.
We got a Sealine S23 under it at all states of the tide but with aerials down unless we forgot!

Centre of the bridge is 5,1m above chart datum. Weymouth tide times/heights are available on line. Check out Weymouth Harbour website or Weymouth Marina ( Dean and Reddyhoff ) sites.
