Wetsuit repair...how?

Thanks Cliff, I'll keep that in mind if my present attempt goes adrift.

After wading around in water 3ft deep on Sunday, I was glad to have put on the wetsuit rather than T-shirt & shorts.

Personally, at today's prices I would go for a replacement wetsuit. You could have a decent 3mm summer suit for £50 which will probably be better than the one you're trying to patch up since materials/technology have moved on and prices have come down over 20 years.
If you're still keen on the patching process, is it worth considering sacrificing legs/sleeves off the old one to use as patch material (assuming your existing suit has them)? If this is for dinghy sailing/surface sport then maybe keep the legs for warmth and wear a windproof kayak type spraytop to keep arms warm(ish)?

Thanks, but I haven't given up on the old suit yet. I'm a lot slimmer than I was, so it doesn't feel so close to bursting point. The neoprene is 5mm thick, so I reckon a replacement wouldn't be so very cheap. My slightly dodgy repair is looking pretty strong, so I'll keep using it until I can stretch to a dinghy-drysuit.

Have a look on wetsuit warehouse - lots of deals on very good wetsuits and drysuits..

BTW, I always keep a tube of ' black witch' neoprene glue handy, it's the best stuff for running repairs.

Bostik 2402 , is the glue they use for glueing the arms onto wetsuits, edge on edge. It is a 2 pack glue. Normally about £15 on ebay or nearest dive shop. Absolutely sticks brilliantly. miracle glue.

I can't imagine why you don't throw in the towel on this suit. I can't think of any garment I own that is 20 years old (but no doubt some forum members regularly wear their de-mob suits).

Thank you gentlemen, I'll get some of that glue in case, and take a long look at the Wetsuit Centre...this place? http://www.wetsuitcentre.co.uk/

You must have started buying them around the time when I stopped. Thankfully now that I've lost a couple of stone, I fit into all my old ones again. And strangely enough, I no longer recognise that woeful waste of time, fashion.
