I had rescue boat duty on Saturday, but we eventually abandoned all races during the afternoon as the wind increased to 45 + kts.
Sunday was a little better; however I stayed at home and helped a friend plan a cruise across the Indian Ocean to South Africa.
Not a lot of information on South Africa is available here, so I hunted around and found this site…. www.cruiser.co.za …. Through them I discovered” Cruiser Log “and “Tony” . who have tons of information on cruising around South Africa and close by Islands.. well both he and Bob should have.. they live and sail there. !!!! I discovered Madascar, then went on to the East coast of Africa .. I purchased “Tony’s” books over the net, and within a few minutes had all the info we needed to continue planning my friend’s itinerary.

I am sure Kim won’t mind me mentioning this site on this BB as it is a continuation of great information available to those of us who find it difficult to get local knowledge in an area where they don’t know anyone
Go and a have a look yourself, you too can dream of somewhere different to cruise.

The east coast of Africa would provide some interesting challenging sailing... but as they say, respect the weather, study the information, seek, local advice and go for it. Even makes Bass Strait look calm!!!!!!!!!
Now to tackle the South Atlantic planning... again with the assistance of those great sites.

Sorry to hear of your wet weekend. A pal and I walked the South Cornwall Coast Path between Polperro and Polruan in near perfect conditions with barometer reading 1039mb. I thought it is summer where you are?

Hi Brian

There is also a great deal of information on East Africa and the Indian Ocean on the Yacht Seerose site at:
http://www.seerose.cruiser.co.za
This yacht sailed around the Indian Ocean (& across to SE Asia) for 5 years.

Good luck on your research - this is not a region sailed by many cruisers so information is a little hard to find. You obviously downloaded Tony Herrick's ebooks from:
http://www.cruiser.co.za/tony.asp
Cheeeezzz
