Considering returning to northern european waters, in the not too distant future, where can I purchase, cheap but good ie, new, but not the latest fashion/colours of a breathable variety, not the ocean type stuff, no need with a huge wheelhouse! Any help would be appreciated. Hope I'm making sense.

There is just so much choice, and you often get run out lines with substantial discounts. Mailspeed Marine and Force4 have almost continuous "special offers" of old styles, as no doubt do other big suppliers. My experience is, however, that buying on line is not best, particularly if you are an awkward size. Much better to try on instore as quotes sizes can be very misleading. My last purchase was a Gill suit at about £200 compared with the "in season" price of £350.

Aldi !
Bought some 3 years ago and sail all year and its all still in good condition, should be it was British made for a change.

I got one of those Aldi jackets for mucking about in the river but the zip went. So still using the stuff I got from outlet centre - Henri Lloyd selling last years styles cheap. I'd previously got salopettes when it was Helly.
These outlet centre shoplets seem to pop up and down but worth investigating.

Looks like best thing is to go try on a suit to get size, then buy!! The Gill suits look the job for us, just dont need the full monty! Thanks peeps!

+1 for Gill. SWMBO and I both have a set - not that it gets much wear.... Bought mine by internet from one or other of the big names for about £130, SWMBO bought hers off the sale rail in what was Aladdins Cave on the Hamble for about the same price.

Hiya! Yep probably the Dart, although cruising up the irish sea to scotland for the classic meets/festivals, but winter Dart, maybe just for a couple of years then off again, I feel I need a UK injection! The boat could do with a higher humidity also!! Maybe caribbean (ideal place to prep boat) or back down to the meddy, (still love it there) when the financial stuff is a bit more stable. It is getting expensive. I have always loved the UK and have nothing to hide from or fear there, unlike some of the peeps I meet abroad. wink wink!

Personally I would look at a good set of 'oilies' proper. I know that vinyl coated clothing is not breathable but is that really an issue? Watch any T.V. program about commercial fishermen and most will be seen wearing p.v.c. work wear rather than 'poncy yottie' gear, I wonder why!?

To me breathable wet weather gear is the only way to go.Nonbreadable fabrics make me sweat so much that after a while I'm wetter inside than outside.
