Hi Chaps,

Where can one get wet weather sailing gear for a chap with a fuller figure?
Henry Lloyd XXL are just that little bit too tight. (ie they fit but with no room for something warm underneath).

.......and before you suggest it slimming is not the option! :-)

Regards,
David H.

Not a super full figure, but I found the Gill XXL that I bought the most generous, but really important to try as an earlier Gill was not so good (no growing room!)

It's the trousers I have trouble with ... to get the right waist size I'm supposed to be 7ft tall instead of 5'10" . I need an inside leg of 29" and all I can get is about 34" and you can't really alter the leg length on high fit oily trousers.

I would suggest purchasing the trousers with a suitable girth, then having the legs shortened,by the "cut and shut" method as used to shorten dutch barges. If the tailor/seamstress cuts below the knee, then glues tape outside, you shouldn`t lose much watertight integrity. And you will have a couple of offcuts for future patches!
I speak as a man who is similarly blessed although perhaps to a slightly inferior degree, cheers Jerry
PS plan on shortening the "braces" as well ;]

I find it incredible that any high street store will sell jeans for next to nothing in half a dozen lengths, yet a pair of VERY expensive chest high waterproofs come in only one length, so the legs drag along the ground behind you and the shoulders touch together without the braces! When prices generally start at a couple of hundred pounds I believe they should fit! Unfortunately the multiple layers and "hi-tech" seams make it very difficult to shorten them.

Rob.

Suit you sir?

Waist 48" Inside Leg 30"

Trading north of the border, perhaps you could try before you buy?
