Done it loads of times from the Colne and Blackwater but was musing about the best route from the Crouch. I'm at home so don't have access to charts, plotter etc.. But looking at the route on an old chart, it looks like the alternatives are either via the Sunk with probably a break in Harwich, or crossing from the S end of Fisherman's Gat. It looks to me that a trip up the Wallet and a stop-over in Harwich is more straightforward and direct in terms of crossing the TSS etc. What does the collective wisdom of the forum think?

From the Blackwater I go through the Spitway and up the Swin to Longsandhead. Would it be the same from the Crouch? Admittedly it is easier from Harwich because it is shorter and you can go north of the Sunk TSS.
