Westerlys now count as Classics - Fulmar destined for greatness

Westerleys are classic for at least three reasons:

1. They created modern family yachting
2. Most of them are great designs
3. They still command a loyal following

I'm not particularly into classic boats but its hard to disagree with what he says. I came round to thinking that a classic plastic boat would be one that attracted a premium price (after a certain age) by virtue of the known merits of its design. The early Westerlys might qualify as curiosities with great historic interest, but the only boat that immediately comes to mind would be something like a Nic 32, or any Nic of the period, come to think of it, though grander boats of the period like Moodys might be included.

He is right about boat condition, though. We tied up near a Pageant a year or two back, which looked as if it had just come from a boat show. Almost a classic, so to speak.

As far as I am concerned the Fulmar achieved has already achieved greatness. I decided that the first time I sailed one (which wasn't that many years ago).

flu, backache, headache, excessive boredom

I doubt you have influenza, baby - that one can be a killer.

And that would be sad, because you'd lose your sense of humour, And I wouldn't see the KTL saga no more - boo hoo!

You might have what the ladies call 'Man Flu' ie Common Cold virus.

You'll probably live! And I will tap another donation when I've seen/heard the Pentland Firth ordeal.

ps. I was shit-scared of P Firth. But I had time enough to play it exactly textbook, (neaps, light wind) and it was a pussy cat.

pretty successful brand I reckon. Done rather well for me and I have enjoyed sailing them

Nobodies going to argue with that film Dylan even if you sailed it in a bath tub :D

Seriously though where was that film taken, was it all filmed in one place or cobbled together?

I love your films particularly of the wild places I just can't quite agree about what is the best example of British manufacturing......but then I have another brand

Does this mean I have to send my new-ish sails back to Kemps and ask what they've got in red canvas?

My Centaur, in dry dock till I get fed up with this wall to wall sunshine here on the Costa Blanca, has a red main. Maybe I should consider selling but just can't let her go. Great memories and my first boat! Always said she is a clasic!
