looking at 1972 one,yan 1gm,seems well cared for..owner states rain leakage into engine hatch is a common problem, cant get much info from the westerly site(unless you join)..prices seem steep, even for older boats.(7k-is that real for 72?).how do they vary from later westerly 21s..any info apreciated-thanks rabbie&seasta for earlier input-also,anything to look out for..

Could I suggest that contact the webmaster, for details for joining the westerly newsgroup, webmaster(at)westerly-owners.co.uk (Change the (at) for @ sign)

Alternatively, you can go to the westerly website and join there - http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/index.html - It costs nothing to join.

You will get more answers on the WOA site/group, where most of the westerly owners reside.

As I said, join the discussion group and post on there and await a flood of answers.

that leaky hatch not significant - make gasket from closed cell foam.
check condition of headlining it tends to come away from its foam backing and its a *all ache to redo
check bulkhead bondings to hull. residual water will rot plywood.
and osmosis
(been there done it)

all prices are subject to negotiation!

Hi
I got mine last year, under £7000 but I get the impression brokers are talking up the prices, sail quite well, excellent in 4 to 5 when they really get going.
Not found any defects of significance but I have heard of some that required extra
reinforcement around the bilge keel mouldings on the inside. This is due to bilge keels spreading if the boat takes the ground in soft mud.
Built like the proverbial brick built S---house,well pleased and looking forward
to the season. E-mail me if you need further info
Regards
