Westerly Longbow info sought

Searush sleeps wit' da fishes.....

Whoops, I thought you were looking at 2 boats opposite sides of the country - one a Longbow, the other a Mac26. I hadn't realised you might be wanting to sell a Mac26! Sorry, my mistake, I was only trying to help.

No probs Searush, I realized that! :D

Nick
ps.. can I interest you in a Mac 26'?

We went from Centaur to Berwick (same hull as Longbow) and there was a noticeable difference in performance. Although both are twin keelers the Berwick would point much better. All round well built boats and looked after us in some pretty rough Irish Sea weather when friends with more modern "lighter" designs didn't want to venture out.

£8K! Way too much. Bet it'll be on the market again within a year or two.

It's still 7k below a poorly equipped standard one needing TLC. For pottering in good weather it would be fine, also as a liveaboard in a marina it would be great, loads of room & presentable appearance too.

Trouble is that low prices encourage (unrealistic?) dreamers & that's when boats keep coming back on the market. The non-standard appearance has rung alarm bells, but the original design was extremely strong, if the windows are indeed toughened glass & properly fitted the result may still be safe enough.

Did Our OP get it?

N0- We viewed, nice people with a nice dog. We decided not to bid, having agreed with advice here and gut feeling that an old bilge keeler would make more sense than an old fin (cheaper moorings, more forgiving in shoal conditions).

It was on the cusp of being (to us) expensive to the point of survey/insurance/haul out/cradles/berthing/cranes for mast lowering etc and decided to leave it.

I hope Sharon and Steve don't get messed about, non payers are really common, that's how I ended up buying Magna.
