Westend Marine - Experiences Good or Bad.

Avoid like the plague. I ended up having to take them to court as they supplied two engines with ground off serial numbers, and to a completely incorrect spec. And they refused a refund. Details here - http://svbluecalypso.blogspot.co.uk/p/the-engine-saga.html

Others have experienced similar issues over on Ribnet. In the end I went for 2 x Mermaid engines; similar price, MUCH better quality.

PM me if you want more info.

Dealt with them some 15 years ago. They marinised (indirect cooling) my own Perkins engine which had come out of a canal boat and was keel cooled. When I went to pick it up he tried every trick in the book to get me to pay much more than he quoted even though he examined my engine when I delivered it. I had all the written correspondence including confirmation of our conversations and in the end he backed down. Worst experience of my life, I have never ever dealt with such a dubious character. He said my engine wasn't worth putting in a boat as it was knackered (after he had done the work and been paid). It has not missed a beat these last 15 years in my son's Westerly Tiger. Do not in a any circumstance get involved with this company. Do not be tempted, he is very plausible.
