After a long hard slog back from Cherbourg to the Tamar, it occurred to me that there must be enough Scuttlebutters down west to have a rally of our own. So how about say a gathering in May, either in Brittany or UK if inclement?

If a couple of other boats are up for it we could plan an itinerary and invite others to join us if they want.

What do you think folks?

Does Christchurch in the far far east of Dorset count as "West Country"? If so I'm, as always, up for it..

Definately on for it- I wondered about it earlier in the year when the Cherbourg Rally was being organised- it's a lot more miles from down here. Let me know if you need any help organising it.

Perros G has mooring buoys outside but some distance away.. If you cannot fold that thing of yours up we could maybe ferry you in and out... Fees as Braye £3 return??
Also could you make Pontrieux? That's more peaceful than Lezardrieux and we could wake the place up??
Cheers Bob E..

Yep, definitely for it, assuming that, after its winter refit, the yacht has all the deck fittings back on, the engine works, sails are clean and intact, and she still floats!!

would you come around Lands End and into Padstow for example. Then the West coast up to Conwy might get involved, though we would have to leave 2 days prior to the event prolly.

WE have loads of options, depends on the forecast and how long we have. FOr a 2 day weekend with beers, it may be easier to go down coast and drink English beer. A 3 day weekend is more relaxing and fun for cross channel- pretty much all of the Brittany coast is accessable to us from here. St Peter Port is a nice passage from here and very managable.

Regards

From, not To...

the general idea is that some of us westcountry folk should go for a trip.

i'll peruse the pilots and almanacs over the winter and put up a proposal along the lines of 'we are going to xxxx on xx/05/05, see you there'.

any suggestions for venue gratefully received, preferably not more than 120m from plymouth.

Re: From, not To...

I'm interested, especially as I missed out on the Wemouth and Cherburg trips.

Happy to go Xchann or further west from the Exe.

Look forward to developments during the winter.

Regards.

Peter.
