Does anyone know the name of the marina in Alghero Sardinia that has hardstanding. I emailed one and they said they only had in the water storeage. Another never responded. The flights from Alghero would be perfect for us but we cannot leave the boat in the water for 1o months with no one to watch it. Anyone have experience in Sardinia. That will leave us in the best spot to head either to Spain or to Greece in 2013.

Its slightly complicated in that the marina with hard standing is at Fertillia but the manager has a....lets say..poor reputation. The best plan is to go to Marina Club Aquatica and ask the excellent Fabrizio to negotiate a shore berth for you at Fertillia. This way you will not get nasty surprises like being told that re-launch was not included in the initial quote.

For an over-view of wintering in Sardinia see jimbsail.info. That link will take you directly to the Sardinia page which includes quite a bit of info about Sardinia. On the top of that page is a useful link to pagine d'azzurro, a good source of detailed information about Italian port facilities, though it takes a long time to drill down through the menus!

My site notes two yards at Fertilia; one has already been mentioned.

My Decision

Again, Thanks to ALL who contributed and I'm sure others will find info helpful as they search / choose.

After looking at the list, places and then looking at the alternatives
a) Pick a place like Almerimar in Spain - which I actually liked(stayed there
2 nights) but I've yet to "warm up to" Southern Spain
b) Pick another place along the way ie; Sardinia, Sicily
c) Just keep going to intended cruising area ie; Greece & Turkey + Italy

I decided to go with C...........and that is what I've done sitting here tonight
in Kos, Greece - I cleared the time to get it done this year.

After covering so much distance since leaving Scotland in July - with breaks back to the states........I wanted to get the long distance stuff over with - that way I can start 2012 with the cruising part of this adventure .

In another thread, the debate goes on about Med vs Carib.........I would still vote Carib for sailing - not even close - but I wanted to see/do Turkey because everyone that has done it speaks positively. I've spent 3 weeks chartering in Greece in the past & have enjoyed 100% and Italy is on my bucket list.........after the work to get here they better live up to the expectation......

Still working on winter plans for the boat but hopefully that will be settled shortly.
Again, thanks to all:cool:
