have wanted to walk up this coast for at least 20 years, since visiting west loch tarbert etc.

raised beaches, arches, caves, beautiful bays, otters, goats, deer, seals galore. and whisky of course :-)

there was a large red schooner went thru corryvreckon from west to east, never got any good pics tho. looked like heading for craobh or loch melfort. was amazing to see how river like corryvreckon looked like from the land.

Out of interest, how big were the spiders? I've heard that in those caves they can grow up to 6" across - something that has previously put SWMBO off doing the same thing!!

thanks!

spiders - never saw any bigger than the one that trapped andy in his cave, ie about 1" across. there were probably some monsters lurking tho. a few adders too. and a sea eagle and porpoises :-)

never met another person in 4 days. and so close to glasgow too. unbelievable. still smiling. very hard going tho. and many ticks

no, no bowsprit

looking at pic again, wonder if its hippo from loch melfort? was hoping they would come in close enough to get good pics, but they went over to scarba side. (which also looks well worth exploring!)

Hippo did come in whilst we were there last week in July.

Had a marvellous time at the raised beach.

Yes. The Beneteau to the left was just leaving.... probably horrified to find we had come in quite late the night before....

great pic thanks. the raised beach on right just before first narrows is one of my all time favourite places, especially if you walk up the bluff to the east to see the deer/goat tracks on the stones. was brilliant to explore all the coast north from west loch tarbert. have never seen that many boats there either, usually they seem to go to glenbatrick bay

I love the plethora of well maintained and very clear leading marks for the inner lochs:

thanks for that. have been meaning to go in there for a while.

there are quite a few bays on nw jura worth a wee explore, from gendebadel bay north. have anchored in glengarrisdale bay (rocky/noisy on chain!) and pig bay (great) a few times. at least one of the others looks very sheltered (bagh uamh nan giall, glentrosdale) but this was from the shore.

Uamh nan Giall is a super little spot. Clean sandy bottom, with a sandy beach.

It can seem a little exposed at HW springs as much of the rocky spit covers. Most of the other bays are particularly exposed and littered with rocks.
