Having just completed a delivery trip on a multi-cat from Liverpool to the Medway, the waters in Wales are something else.
Crystal clear seas and dolphins frolicking around the bow are lovely, but Ramsey sound and the bitches? Wow!
The Portland overfalls are like boating on Windermere in comparison!

lol, it is a bit lively! After that you cross St Brides bay and are then presented with the Jack sound between Skomer,Skokholm and the mainland. (keep a few miles off this one) All fun while your engine works and you miss the reefs lol!! It has to be done though, the Pembrokeshire coast is stunning.

Jack sound was fairly tame after Ramsey! It was a bit tense on the approach though - the chart shows no gap, confirmed by radar but, yes, there is!

It can get very hairy through there, depends on the tide but iirc there is 7 tides converging there and a constant 6kts+ flow . I was out testing a brand new engine on a dive rib out of Little Haven and a plastic bag went over the intake and ruined the day......I have never paddled so hard in my life!

No need to doff your hat, an offer of drinks will suffice (y) I see you gave Carmel Head, South stacks and Bardsey a wide berth :p

Respect dude. :)

Ah Yes Carmel head with an onshore wind and a dodgy engine-fun? I found Wales overall more challenging than the south coast. The weather is far better in the south but I still miss Wales/Eire/IOM.......

Few can boast of our amazing variety. Nothing is ever the same twice. Why we arent the boating Mecca of the UK completely alludes me.

?

We can talk volumes about your shafts. Where shall I start from? That sinking feeling in the guts or boat?

and :p
