I seem to remember the aim was for 1m at LW neaps up to just behind the lifeboat shed, great for me as I need less than 1m if the water's smooth.
You probably won't be too welcome to stay on the new pontoons (if they are done) as they are intended for commercial use, I guess short stays when theres space will be allowed till theres enough water to reach the main harbour.

so have they completed the channel any one know? I think originally they said it would be done for march 2010 so should not be too far off.

There is a crane on the wharf at Wells today. Looks like it is lifting pontoon like structures into the water. Wonder where they are going. Don't know how to fix the photo from the link so it will change!

Thanks for that. I think it could be the pontoons for the area behind the lifeboat house for the work vessels to use when it is all tide accesss.

I understand they are also going to move the "Albatross" back and extend the pleasure boat moorings, so some of the pontoons may be for this?

I thought moving the albatross was to free up commercial quay space rather than more pontoons, the visitor pontoons were extended last year(or was it the year before), I think they gave the albatross a years notice for the move.

I believe some pontoons are going down to lifeboat house so the boats for doing the work on wind farm can come in and out whenever

Looks like quite a few moorings gone by dredging out that pit, I hope it doesn't ruin the atmosphere of the place.

not exactly a environmentally sympathetic pit !!
It will be nice not to have to wait long for the tide though
