To those that are interested. The works have begun in earnest to "plough" and dredge the infamous wells bar.

The intended result is to make wells 24/7 acessable. The mega bucks company that is putting in wind farms off of the Norfolk coast has done a feasability study and they are now attempting to open up the area in front of the lifeboat station.

the entire thing is being paid for by private money

There was also talk of pontoons being put in at this area

i first heard about the plans some time ago, there was a test "plough" just before mat BH weekend,i was asked then if i had noticed any difference in the depth at the bar.

This weekend i saw a small barge with a deck crawler on it and a large grabber bucket.I spoke with the chandler and the car park attendant and someone from the Coast guard, they all confirmed that the dredging had started for earnest.

I did not see any works in progress so either they are dredging after the tides allow acess or during the week.

I doubt that the HM would allow any hinderance of shipping and as it would also hinder the lifeboat,i cant see that that would be allowed.

I will not be there next weekend as swimbo and my daughters are through to the final of a National competition and i therefore have to look after the dogs

if you had been there today, you would have been treated to a dog rescue demonstration,They were demonstrating Newfoundland dogs rescuing people in the water

This is great news, I'm new to this sea lark and have found wells to be a lovely spot to head for from the great ouse and hoping to go aug BH.
Is it going to be an ongoing thing as sand tends to move back every time?

This was towed out of the harbout late on Wed evening...we then saw it in the channel on Thursday morning near the beach...!

thats the barge thats doing the work, personally i think that its a tad small, anyhow i sailed out to the wind farm to have a looksee,i counted two fields of 24 turbines, one 4 leg jack up rig and a floating hotel.

I also had a quick word with the guys on the survey vessell, the were under the impression that the wind farms were going to be serviced from wells harbour,so the alll tide access sounds like its serious.

The fun will be when the Northerly winds batter that new entrance
