Well we all get around ... whats the funniest boat name?

Up the pontoon from me.

Magewind of Roke

Not funny in itself, as far as I can see, but a good way of practising your phonetic alphabet, as I guess you can't use the name on the VHF or phone without absolutely everyone asking you to spell it - twice - and then, when you go to pay for your mooring, asking what it means and how the boat got its name.

After a week of that, it would make me long for a Peggy Sue or Silver Sunset or Graceful Gull or, of course, a Penguin . . .

I do not want to appear as a prude, however I do find some of these boat names some what crass.

"Mary Hinge","Betty Sweaver" and "Betty Swollocks" for example.

Where as I can quite happily see the humour with:
'Voluptuous'
of
Brest

Which shows some thought and avoids tackiness

Just my opinion.

Exactly - one day I'm going to find the previous owner of my MF805 and ask him why on earth he named her "La Maitresse de la Mer of Rochester" The first time Thames coastguard asked me to spell it I was stumped for a couple of seconds. Now I've got it written at the helm !! Makes for some great pseudonyms though - the guys at Mutford Lock used to call me "The Mattress" - sweet !!

Chris, If you were a member of a dogging forum would you have a picture of a boat as your avatar?

I'm guessing no. Not everyone is into boats if you know what I mean.
