Well, there's a surprise

Do you have any idea what it costs to fund the boards pension scheme ,spect they are all well into their 40s and will may decide to call it a day soon.

A couple of years ago when they declared something like £600million operating profit I suggested they might like to pop across the road from their Reading HQ and drop a cheque in to the EA office for just 1% - i.e. £6million. They wouldn't even have needed to pay for a stamp and I'm sure the £6million would have been fully tax deductible rather than just deferred.
Needless to say ………...

I heard this today on the radio and wasn't surprised . Having a quick look online I guess you would be quite happy about it if you had shares in the company .

Well that's for sure that the corporation is going through the most profitable quarter and i guess all this is built upon the taxes.

Perhaps if CaRT is to be "given" the River some of these anomalies could be sorted out, rather than a pitiful sum lost somewhere in another EA division....

Oink, oink, oink, flying variety)

Thames Water, the UK's biggest water firm, paid no corporation tax this financial year despite making £145m in pre-tax profit.

I read that they are not avoiding it but will defer payment until a later date. Seem to think its a government initiative to do with the amount that Thames Water are currently investing in new infrastructure. If so, and if it promotes investment, I think thats a good thing.
