I saw the astonishing photo of waves over the church elsewhere on these forums, I can imagine the toll on boats you describe; how is the town itself ?
 
The blue one is an Offshore 105, and she has a Plymouth Pilot 18 underneath her, came out with surprisingly little damage. The P18 is knackered though. That film as at about the time we would go aground, HW plus 3-4 hours but there's still water up to HW mark
 
Impressed that you were able to crane er up, good idea! Horrid to watch. I take it you are steel or have a metal shoe on the bottom for the bump bump tidal bits?
The Hastings boats (up to 10ton ?) are extraordinarily adept at running a lumpy groundswell on and off the beach ( but not today I think)
