I have alway's defended people from south Croatia, they suffered from the war and all that,..... and we made a few very good friends over there,
but having spend many day's in SOF this summer, and just returned from a weeks stay in Cassis,
I found french people more "enjoying live",
perhaps it has to do with the language or communication, as soon as you approach the frensh in a relaxed way, you get a relaxed communication,
In Croatia communication usually is more sour...
what's your experience abbout this ?

I used to think that but now that we have got to know a few locals in the marina, they are not unfriendly. I think you are right about the war. It only ended 15yrs ago and I think many middle aged and older people who lived through that period are quite withdrawn and guarded because of that. Actually the more I see of the country and the more I learn about the terrible things that occurred, the more surprised I am that the country is in such a good state as it is.
Actually we British think that the French can be offhand and rude. Although we love their country, we think it would be better if the French weren't living in it:) Maybe they're being nice to you because you will help bail out their banks when the Euro goes bust:D

in fact, when you got to know some of them more closely, they can be very warm and helpfull people, agree on that.

scuse me, I forgot about the relation / opinion between you brits and french :)
but the fact that my french language speaking is much better then my english language writing helps a lot ofcause.

well actually I had erased one sentence from my previous post before submitting;
........... all this happens as long we keep the euro's rolling ;)

Deleted User - this post certainly is a good advert for keeping a boat in the new marina in montenegro and cruising the islands up norf all summer long when i have more free time.

Of course by then it will be mega €€€€€ and frequent flights... and wonderful infracture - even a Ancasta office :-)

.....we did the adriatic crossing in a 28ft boat, report is here:

absolutely no problem........

Bart,

Followed the link, certainly looks a great place to visit. I may consider a move from SCM to Fano sooner than I thought! Love the shot of four skiing, was it off the back of your boat?

Mmmmmm very tempting.

Yes, Porto Montenegro looks quite an attractive location. 1 hr from Dubrovnik airport (BA flights all year round), still relatively cheap and duty free fuel on exit from the country. But its a fair way south of the Dalmatian islands and you need to check out/in of Montenegro/Croatia customs every time. Personally, I'd give it a couple more years for the infrastructure around the marina to develop before I considered berthing there permanently

Blimey Bart, I don't dare thinking of what sort of air a good wakeboarder could get out of the C70 wake...! :D
Not to mention an Air Chair. Have you ever seen the video below?
This guy surely could fly to the moon behind your boat...

thanks MapisM
this will inspire my eldest son, and his hooligan friends for their next holiday
here's some skiing he did two weeks ago
sorry for the bad quality of the video, excuse the camera girl
and sorry Mike for the thread drift

Bart, that is the most surrealistic mono ski deep water start ever!
I would love to try some slalom, maybe shortening the rope a bit.
For what can be seen in the video, BA wake seems softer at shorter distance.
Did anyone manage to make a side to side crossing in one shot? That must be challenging!

you're welcome to come and try it yourselve, not to mention handling and treating the old lady.
the idea for this big boat skiing came only at the end of the day,
4 boy's tried it, all of them succesfully, but none of them could cross the wake,
unfortunotly not more film that is worth posting.
at least we have now many idea's to test out on another occasion
