welding SS pushpit

need two welds done at the most forward end.
its not easy to remove the lot, and position it again for welding the two sides together.

can this be done in situ on the boat ? Brightlingsea boat yard.

Might be worth talking to Mr Stainless who are based at Levington, not used them for a while but I'm sure they still going.

if its not on the feet (fixing end to the boat) then yes it is straight forward - I personally would go for tig welding it as there is no spatter as the process/technique is similar to gas welding as apposed to stick or mig welding + you can get the amps right down to weld thin material
still best to have fire blanket down just as a precaution.
if its a steel hull disconnect the batteries and electrics.
after you have welded it - best to use pickling paste to remove the burnt marking on the steel or spend a very lot of time with abrasives polishing it out.

if its at the feet end then try to undo the screws/bolts to lift it away from the hull/topside to avoid heat transfer obviously if its grp then otherwise your going to melt it.
Hope this helps
Jon
