Further to an earlier post by me, I’d like to remove a self steering gear (Cape Horn) from the transom of my steel boat. This particular model of gear required an approx 3” hole cutting in the transom just above the water line, so after I remove the gear, I’d like to weld a plate (4mm thickness) over the hole. At the same time, there are a couple of redundant transducer holes which I may as well have plates welded over too.
The boats ashore n Lymington, I have absolutely no welding skills whatsoever and wondered if anyone knows of anyone in the area who’s got a mobile welding business who could do the job for me ASAP?
