My old engineer mate always told me to " Take a bastard file to it lad, get it back to clean unfatigued metal" and its always stood me in good stead.When cleaning aluminum for welding use a stainless brush do not use the brush for any other items as you will put continent's in to the ali.
I am ready to assemble it all back together.
Is there supposed to be any thread locker in the holes that compress the diaphragm between the upper and lower halves of the leg??
There is some white goo there but I cannot recall adding that the last time.
if the welder knows his onions he will use ac current and a zirconiated tungsten tip (rounded at the end as well)
Correct Roger - I was going to mention a stainless wire brush but I did notice boater sam had mentioned this before.Thats if he is doing TIG welding Aluminium but if he is using MIG to weld Aluminium the conditions will be different.
