Good afternoon,
The USA is bracing itself for Hurricane Rita. Phenomenally low pressure in there at the moment with a central pressure of 898mb recorded! This is so low that the effect is that the sea actually "bulges" only adding to the flooding problems associated with such storms. Track the images on the link I sent yesterday.
For the UK this weekend, autumn is knocking on the door. Conditions are changing and I think that when Rita gets into the overall Hemispheric flow it could dictate the direction of the autumn weather pattern.
If you need ius this weekend John is on duty. Call him on 090 666 444 80 (£1.50 p/min) or if you want to pay on credit card call 01902 895252.
Have a great weekend,

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
====================
Issued: 1245 Thursday 22nd September 2005
FRIDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack0a.gif)
A cold front passing eastwards through the British Isles during the course of Friday, all associated with low pressure north of Scotland. The low will have ashowery troughs behind it, together with a deep trough in the upper atmospheric flow.
A band of rain passing through Scotland, north and western England as well as Wales through the morning. The rain could be heavy at times, especially on western facing coasts and hills. This rain turning more showery through central and western Scotland, as well as Ireland late in the morning. Windy in many areas too, especially the northwest. Most eastern parts of England should have a fine start to the day, but the rain and cloud will arrive here in the afternoon, although by then it will be increasingly showery in nature.
Winds will be from the SW 14-25kt (F5) (south-north) ahead of the front, becoming NW 15-25kt (F5-F6) behind it. Wind speeds could reach 25-30kt (F6-F7) in Northern Ireland and western Scotland.
SATURDAY (SEE http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack1a.gif)
As you can see from the chart it's a strange pattern developing on Saturday. A ridge of high pressure builds in as Fridays front weakens off eastern England. This is a good example of air being "pumped" in ahead of the developing low in the Atlantic, effectively destroying the upper trough and turning it into a ridge, seemingly over a few hours.
So, a misty start to the day, some dense fog patches inplaces too. These are likely to be slow to clear, but once they have it should be dry and bright with good spells of sunshine for most. Winds will be increasing as cloud and rain move into western Ireland.
Winds will be light and variablle (F1-F2) but will pick up from the SE 12-18kt (F4-F5) on Saturday afternoon.
SUNDAY (see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack2a.gif)
Another change takes place on Sunday as low pressure slips to be close to the Scilly Isles, with fronts lying through Ireland, Wales and England. At the same time high pressure will be building through northern Scotland.
A damp day seems likely through the south of the country with outbreaks of rain and drizzle during Sunday. MOst will be light, although there is a chance of heavier rain in the southwest.
For Scotland the weather should be fine. Good spells of autumn sunshine here and dry through the day, although eastern coasts of Scotland may have low cloud drifting off the sea.
Winds mainly E-SE 17-25kt (F5-F6).
