WEEKEND SAILING FORECAST
Issued: 1130 Thursday 15th September 2005

FRIDAY
An occluded front will be clearing from southern coasts of England during Friday morning, with a brisk northerly wind following behind. High pressure building to the west of Ireland. A showery trough moving southwards through northern and eastern Scotland on Friday afternoon.
Rain will clear southern coasts, and some of this may be heavy at times, there will be mist too. Further showers for Scotland and the east of England, with a few of the showers heavy at times.
To the west the day will be drier and breezy with good spells of sunshine. Feeling cold in that wind.
Winds N-NE F6 gust F7 (20 gust 30kt), becoming more NW F5-F6 (20-25kt) over Scotland.

SATURDAY
High pressure builds to the southwest of Ireland on Saturday, the ridge from the high building eastwards. A warm front will be passing eastwards over Scotland, with the winds to gale force here.
A few showers may affect the coasts of East Anglia and Kent on Saturday morning. These should clear into the afternoon. For most of England and Wales, as well as southern Ireland the day is going to be dry and bright with plenty of sunshine. Northern England will start fine too, although cloud increasing here will make the sunshine more hazy, perhaps bringing drizzle to northwest England by evening.
Over Scotland and Northern Ireland the day will be breezy with cloud and outbreaks of rain, these becoming heavier, especially over west and north of Scotland. Those winds to gale force.
Winds will be NW 10-14kt (F3-F4) for England and Wales, mainly W 14-18kt (f5) in Northern Ireland, W 25-35kt (F6-F8) for Scotland.

SUNDAY
The high moves to the southwest of the Scilly Isles through Sunday, with a ridge extending over the British Isles. An increasing southwest flow west of Ireland and Scotland.
Cloud and drizzle for the far northwest of Scotland and also the west of Ireland, windy here as well with those winds to gale force in Scotland.
Early morning mist and fog for most of England and Wales, clearing quite quickly to leave sunny spells and dry conditions for the afternoon.
Visibility will be W 15kt (F4-F5) in Scotland, SW F3-F4 (12kt) in Ireland, VRB F2-F3 (8kt) in England and Wales.

Doesn't look too promising for sailing up here . . .

But looking on the bright side, it doesn't look good for painting the house either.

A T&T weekend methinks.

Hi Nick
Was that you I caught sight of taking your leisure on Shuna at the w/end?
Horsing up and down Shuna sound myself.
These guys down south don`t know how lucky they are - every time its the same, they are basking in sunshine whilst we are being blasted with wind and horizontal rain.
Character building,what ?
Cheers
Pete

Clyde seems O.K. for the weekend though a bit windy on Monday ~20kts.

Hi Pete,

Was that you with the tan sails?

My character is huge now, but my skin is all white and wrinkly . . .

Went ashore on Shuna but didn't get very far - forgot the machetes. We went over to Craobh later evening for a meal at the LOTI
