Hi All,

A taste of winter later this weekend, I think most of the country see some sleet or snow showers by early next week. Shouldn't last too long though.

Have good one,
Simon

WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST
==========================
Issued: 0900 Thursday 15th March 2007

FRIDAY ( see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn301.png and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+36.gif )
An area of high pressure centred to the south of Ireland at midday tomorrow, with a ridge through southern parts of England. Fronts will be passing through Ireland and Scotland as low pressure sits to the east of Iceland.
So an unsettled and windy day through Scotland and northern parts of Ireland. The rain could be heavy at times as the fronts sink southwards. The winds gusting to gale force in the west and north. Rain falling as snow over the Highlands and even at lower levels in the far north later.
To the south it should be drier and brighter with some good spells of sunshine and staying dry too.
Winds will be W 18-25kt (F5-F6) through Ireland and Scotland as well as northern England, perhaps gusting 35kt (F8) in northwest Scotland at times.

SATURDAY ( see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtav541.png and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+60.gif )
Another fairly unsettled look to Saturday. Pressure falling through Scotland with fronts pasdsing east and a broad warm-sector covering the UK and Ireland. A secondary depression in the flow is expected to cross Ireland in the afternoon, and then move into Wales and northwest England.
Mainly fair, but breezy for southern and central counties of England on Saturday morning. Apart from a shower in the breeze it should be dry.
Thicker cloud for northern England and Scotland where it will be windy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle with fog on the hills. The rain always more persistent to the west and becoming heavier in the afternoon.
Yet more cloud and rain passing through Ireland and then Wales and northern England as well as southern Scotland in the afternoon. Elsewhere it will be rather cloudy, and staying windy.
Winds mainly W'ly 15-25kt (F5-F6), gusting 30kt (F8) in western Scotland.

SUNDAY ( see http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn301.png and http://www2.wetter3.de/Fax/bracknell+36.gif )
A change for Sunday as a cold front sinks south through all parts of the UK and Ireland, introducing a colder, wintry, polar maritime airstream.
The occluded front marked on the UKMO charts denotes the really cold air moving south Sunday afternoon as an area of enhanced sleet and snow showers.
It should be fine but cold and windy through much of central and southern England, with sunny spells and dry conditions. However, frequent showers showers are going to be affectiong northern and western coastal areas of the UK, together with Ireland. Heavy snow is possible over the Scottish mountains and Pennines as well as the hills of Northern Ireland.
Winds W-WNW 20-25kt (F6) but 30-40kt (F8) through northern England and southern Scotland.
