When I get to the last response to a Scuttlebut thread I am presented with a panel with a multiple choice question from YBW, which so far, as the archetypal grumpy old man I have resisted answering. There seem to be a number of these which rotate up, all of them quite short and all daft except perhaps the one offering one a choice of current and former female sailors. Who in his right mind wants to go for a long sail with a choice of celebs. or to wants to sail at 200mph?
What really puzzles me is the purpose of posing these questions and the use that will be made of the answers. Perhaps because only a real eedjit would waste time answering, YBWs idea is to find out how many of us are off our trolley?

Some months back I asked one of my sons (who is an IT programmer) the same question about some stupid questions asked by another web site. He said the answers, however off track they seem, reveal the type of person you are which tells the marketing guys, what type of junk ads to aim at you...and a lot more. Apparently your every move on the web is watched and logged without you having any idea how much data "they" have collected about you and your habits....spooky eh? Frequently deleting cookies helps to muddy the trail unless you are on Facebook which ties everything together and makes 2 plus 2 equal...whatever they want.
