Evening all,

Anyone have any diagrams of how to plumb in a Webasto Thermo Top Z-C/D to a calorifier and a couple of heat exchanger fans?

Or any tips?

Just bought one (bargain and works!)... Want to fit it to an old boat and add a shower etc. Wondering what's the best piping to use, etc.
 
I can send you a copy of the factory marine install instructions for Webasto wet heating systems if you like, it covers various methods of plumbing along with correct procedures for installing the actual unit, just PM me your email address. We use JG speedfit but any decent push fit plastic plumbing or even heater hose is acceptable and we use it where appropriate, especially on very small boats.

Hi as expect others will tell you heat exchanger fans wont impress you with heat output as water temp only reaches circa 70 deg c as apposed to hot blown air heaters about double that been there and done that great little water heaters though I use one on each of my big Volvo diesel when fresh water/river cruising at engine idle speeds to keep engines hot as they run cold other wise , I did use small domestic radiators on one similar installation were not to bad and quiet as blown exchangers are quite noisey

Interesting... The boat we're fitting it on could do with something to dry towels on. Do you know if you can get stainless radiators for use on boats? Don't fancy a domestic radiator in a saltwater environment...

Radiators are certainly better than matrix when using this type of heater, I wouldn't worry about using standard ones though as there will be 25% anti freeze with inhibitor and they will be inside (obviously), decent ones are well painted. You can buy aluminium powder coated ones which are more efficient than pressed steel but at a cost premium. Also stainless steel which I have used a couple of times but for aesthetics more than corrosion reasons, again at quite a premium.
