We have a Webasto Airtop 3900 with Webasto Evo controller fitted on our SO33i - professionally installed by Jeanneau dealer before delivery. It works really well and keeps the boat nice and toasty while sipping diesel - only trouble is the extreme sensitivity of the thermostat!

The temperature control has about 270 degrees or more of rotation, but the comfort zone for temperature is about five degrees or so wide around the 11o/c position. Any less than that and we are freezing, any more and we could rent the boat out to the other occupants of the marina as a sauna!

Before anyone asks - the temperature sensor is located in the cabin rather than out in the heater air intake. I've discussed with a local Webasto dealer in the hope that there was some sort of internal configuration option in the controller that might improve the temperature control, but he says there isn't. It looks like that temperature control is set up so that the fully anti-clockwise position corresponds to zero degrees C and the fully clockwise position is fifty or more degrees C.

Has anyone else experienced the same? Any suggestions for a modification? I think it needs something like a different thermistor for the temperature sensor...

Help bring back some marital harmony! My wife likes the temperature lower than me, so she's waking up in the middle of the night, turning it down and overcompensating with the result that I wake up an hour later freezing, turn it up, overcompensate and... well - you can imagine how it goes, can't you!
