Have a Webasto diesel heater on our boat and it's packed up. Fan runs / wont ignite. I just haven't got the time to try and fix it myself this winter. Can anyone recommend a decent mobile repairer in the North Essex / South Suffolk area? Am not bothered if they are a marine specialist, as I guess these sorts of people mainly focus on lorries and commercial vehicles.
Many thanks!

Can't recommend anyone, but I had a similar fault with mine. It would start up and shut down after a few minutes (you could hear the diesel burning briefly but it wouldn't continue).

It's fine now (touch wood).

There's four things I did.

1) switch to white diesel (at the time oil prices fell rapidly in 2008 it was cheaper to buy white diesel in Ireland than to buy from old stock from the marina at old prices). Apparently Eberspaechers aren't supposed to run on red!!

2) Put injector cleaner in the tank (sorted out the smokey old diesel engine too)

3) Checked the voltage and found the fuse wasn't fitted too well so adjusted the position slightly to get better contact.

4) Hard to believe but true, but the heater would start up better if the compartment it was fitted in was pre-heated with an electric fan heater.

Once I got it going I would leave it running flat out. It's running fine now on rosé diesel (about 50:50 red & white).

OK, you might find you have to splash out on a service engineer if you can't solve it, but worth thinking about the above, including checking the voltage reaching the heater, first.

Just a thought. Had the same problem with mine a couple of years back; 1) check the error code to see if it is something simple; 2) check that the fuel pipe is in fact under the fuel level in the tank. Guy on the next pontoon tried everything until he realised that the fuel line was not even in the diesel! Good Luck, Al.

excellent, thanks guys. i'll try the voltage point otherwise contact Diesco. There's no flashing code on this particular unit, I think that applied to later models (which I had on my last boat.)

Try to reset the software:
1) turn the thermostat to 0, wait a few seconds, turn it back on, and off again. Next cycle is for normal operation.
2) if this fails, remove the fuse for twenty minutes or so.

Wish you success.

Also...Try to tap a few times with some metal tool on the Webasto fuel pump until you hear it start ticking.
Sometimes it's stuck and need a few taps on the head...
Aren't we all? :)))
Good luck.
