Webasto heating engineer Portsmouth

Hi
i have stripped and rebuilt my own unit to replace igniter and burner plate etc they are not that complicated what's the problem?

Endevour Yacht Services 0845 450 7889, though will find that many parts apart from gaskets and plugs are difficult if not impossible to source now, I assume it's an HL model.

Well in some ways I agree.............

I followed the main service guide and dutifully replaced a perfectly good flame detector only to find I still had the same fault code.
The next choice was to spend nearly half the value of a new unit on a replacement electronic control circuit board. (Webasto design engineers need their brains examining by mounting electronics to be cooked mounted on top of the heater.)

I decided at that point to employ H Bowers of Stoke on Trent. Who quoted £36 quid plus parts to service it.

They duly replaced the flame detector and said I should pick it up............................

On mentioning that I had recently done the same they magically retested the unit and found the same result and decided a new control board was also needed!

At least I have a 12 months warranty on these parts but my wallet is lighter to the tune of nearer 3/4 of the value of a new replacement.

I think retrospectively I should have binned it and bought a complete new Eber! Either would have meant a complete rewire as the older We*******s wiring is not compatible with the latest model.

Rant Over.......

Put it on Ebay with no reserve and state working when last used! Buy a new one. Or a coal burning stove and a good shovel!

Buy a Mikuni, cheaper to buy & service

Surprised you should think that (well not really), unless you have a really old HL series that is, all the latest EVOs will work plug and play with the old AT harnesses, with the exception of the AT2000 when replaced with an AT2000ST and there is an inexpensive loom adapter available for that, it comes with the service replacement heater unit, all the controllers and pumps, exhausts etc are compatible.
