Webasto Heater Problem any ideas?

Airtop 2000

Fan runs for about a second before cutting out and indicator flashing.

Flashed 5 times and locks out.

Changed flame sensor and checked the glow plug and sensor resistances within tolerance.

Still locks out.

I have disconnected and reconnected the fuse.

Is power cycling the only way to release lock out after changing sensor?

Any tips other than replacing the control board?

I thought the 'five flashes' was just a precursor to the start of the error code flashes. Is it not doing any flashes after the five?

I should have said "five long flashes" and that flags up flame sensor short or open circuit. Changed sensor and fault remains.

Thanks for the offer but I have not only the owners hand book but have downloaded a service and repair manual.

I have well and truly got in touch with my female side and read it at least twice!

It seems that this gives me the opportunity (page 502) to replace either sensor, glowplug or control board for the said fault.

I have a new flame sensor, the glowplug both of which are in tolerance on resistance test.

The glowplug will shortly be tested by direct connection to a battery to see if it does what it should do and glow!

That only leaves the control board to replace which at £264.99 is going to need a capital sanction and at least two signatures!

One of which is abroad at the moment.

I have shown it the big hammer, I have given it a good talking to.... I refuse to go on my knees to pray or beg it to start......

I have not counted the number of times I have squeezed my racing snake like figure into the aft cockpit locker.

I assume from your description you have an old model AT2000 with a hinged open control board rather than the later sealed horseshoe type, firstly never connect the glowpin to a battery, they get a pulse from the board not a constant current which can damage it and require its replacement. Secondly AT2000s do not lock out, simply switching them on and off at the rotary switch is enough to try again under normal fault conditions barring a board fault. If as you say, you have correctly measured the resistances (whilst the components were at the correct temperature) then I would be looking to test using a new or known good control board, sadly these older heaters (2000 Diagnosis designation apart) have no ability to connect to Thermotest software so that is not an option. It is unclear from your posts whether you are getting five short followed by five long flashes or just five long flashes

Try contacting Butlertechnic they supply both Ebers and Webasco's their spares are very keenly priced, the tech dept is very helpful. best 'phone them. Not anything to do wit them, but a very happy customer, bought a replacement Eber from them earlier this year at a very good price.

Also, forgot to say in my last post, F05 can also be corroded or damaged wiring in the loom so be sure to check that too.

It gives me something to do other than a new board. Sorry if I had not made it clear definitely 5 short then 5 long repeated. F05.
