Webasto exhaust isolation

Around the exhaust of my Webasto diesel heater used to be a sort of fluffy white cord that looked suspiciously like asbestos. So i took the stuff out carefully and now there is no isolation left.
Can you guys advise what i can wrap around it as the exhaust is exposed and things may touch it.

I saw a ready made thing made out of glass fibre in the shop but that would cost me 70,= euros. There must be a cheaper DIY option?

My local industrial supplier sell strips of round webbing for sealing the doors on closed domestic fires. It is sold by the metre and is not very expensive. It is also sold in plumber merchants for sealonf flues.

Probably not available in the Netherlands. What is available is caramic wool. I used it on the exhaust of my Kabola. Worked fine, but was a bit messy so I replaced it with thte official Kabola exhaust sleeve which was, indeed, quite expensive. You could cover the ceramic wool with aluminium tape which is readily available in any diy-shop. The ceramic wool is available in central-heating shops.

Nee, ik bedoel keramische wol. Zo heet dat spul echt en wij hebben het gekocht in de toko die ook onze radiatoren heeft geleverd. Het ziet er (nieuw) ook inderdaad wit uit. Glaswol zou nog wel kunnen denk ik, maar erg vervelend verwerken, steenwol moet je niet doen, het neemt gemakkelijk dieseldampen op. Het materiaal is zelf weliswaar niet brandbaar maar de dieseldamp wel en daarom zou ik het niet willen gebruiken.

Ik denk dat keramische wol ook wordt gebruikt in dubbelwandige schoorstenen voor open haarden.

Ik moet zeggen dat we eigenlijk toch wel blij zijn met onze slurf van Kabola. Is lang niet zo kwetsbaar en ook nog schoon te maken als hij van buiten smerig is geworden. Was geloof ik 100 gulden voor een lengte van 1 meter.
