Webasto and Eber have been ripping us off for years

1. The re-sellers will have to have sold all their overpriced old stock before the benefits of this ruling trickle down to those of us who now want to buy a heater.
2. This revelation is an illustration of the wisdom of Remaining :)

Not sure this ruling was anything to do with pricing - particularly retail pricing in the marine business. It is about operating a cartel (it is actually a duopoly) in the motor industry. That is deciding not to compete against each other and sharing the business out to keep competitors out.

This is exactly the kind of behaviour that is encouraged by the EU as it gives far more power to producers than consumers (even though it says the opposite). There is more to come in a similar vein, particularly in the German automotive industry. Even now they (German automotive manufacturers) are being investigated for collusion in technology and regulation related to emissions from IC engines - and have you forgotten the millions of consumers who were sold illegal VW group cars?

What would move the hot air heating industry on for our benefit would be to stop the protectionism of the EU and allow other suppliers such as the Japanese to compete in our market. But of course the EU as the arch protectionists will not allow this. Then they wonder why manufacturers act in the way they do.

They look to me to be identical to the heaters now being sold here by Mikuni, a fairly respected brand. It seems quite a few people are happy with them, see this thread - http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?492470-Chinese-(5kw-)air-heater

There's also a Facebook group with lots of feedback - https://www.facebook.com/groups/146837062640024/

Yep definately worth a punt, have one fitted and have ran in my LWB sprinter, just waiting for the tank to run down to fit the fuel tap for a permanant diesel connection.

About cartles; outlawed by the EU.
I suffered a bust crankshaft on my Ford Pickup. No point in thinking of rebuilding it, so I asked around for a similar used engine.

Tried four outfits and they all came back within 5%?? I bought one from my local bloke and questioned the close prices.. He replied that 'What do you expect? We all talk to each other.
SO, yet another case of ignoring the rules, with no apparent comeback.

Can you please explain why this remark isn't simply racism?

Because it isn't. Do you want to talk about the biggest scandal being played out right now? The VW emission one? Talk now about another German company being found out, oh and what is a common factor? Or the BMW diesel swirl flap scandal where they put some sheet metal flaps in the intake manifold which broke at a certain mileage and destroyed the turbo if you were lucky and the engine if you weren't? Or how about a few years ago when their mag alloy wheels were bending on some models, denial of the first water there even on Watchdog?
The typical response as demonstrated live on Watchdog is denial

True, but they're called "Planar" usually on eBay.
I read a story on another forum written by a chap who bought a Planar heater on ebay. He realised it was from China but it turned out to be a Chinese copy of Planar and not a genuine Planar .
Therefore it was a copy of a copy.

Are we complaining about the EU, or Germany? Let's be clear in our prejudices at least. Leaving the EU will, and is, damaging the Uk economy. Britain should stay in, and use its veto and influence as a major player more readily. Once out the uk will have squandered these opportunities. Non EU people's are flabaggasted at us wanting to leave what they all want to join

Germany is the EU, dont even try to kid yourself it isn't. And as for your other misconceptions, oh dear me.

So there's one domineering bully in your yacht club? leaving is not the solution, especially as there are not other clubs waiting with open arms to welcome you. Face up to the beast, deal with the problem, don't bury your head in the sand and hope it'll go away. It won't. The bullying will just get worse later.

We've faced the prob, the democratic process has dealt with it, the rest of the world IS waiting for us with open arms. market forces always rule. And as for the beast? the threat of a twenty percent tax on its goods, don't forget they sell more to us than we sell to them will get their attention! The private owners in Germany won't like it!
Anyway this isn't for this forum so suggest we go elsewhere ?

The phrase 'behaviour typical of their breed' denotes a generalisation based on genetics.
If that's not racism, I don't know what is.

The original post referred to the EU, which is an institution, the thread has now degenerated into something else and this is not the forum for it.
